Enroute to Versailles

Captains Cabin, Deck 2

Defiant classes where small, spartan ships. Designed with combat and not much else in mind, the luxuries where few and far between. That being said, there was one luxury of being the Captain - your own shower.

Unlike Officers and Enlisted personnel who shared communal facilities, the Captain got their own bathroom. It was tiny in comparison to a bathroom onboard pretty much any other ship class - but at least it was private.

Nixon reached for the controls of her sonic shower and disengaged the program, the low hum immediately stopped and the low warming heat that the sonic waves produced dissipated quickly. She grabbed a towel and wrapped it around herself quickly, while pacing towards the main section of her cabin.

It wasn’t much different than a standard crew cabin. Ever so slightly larger and instead of spartan bunks, it had a single ‘captains bed’ with an enlarged workstation and integrated replicator.

Slipping into her uniform, she affixed her rank insignia to the turtle green collar of her undershirt, pulled her two tone blazer over the top, zipping it up just as the intercom beeped.

It had been centuries since an intercom had crackled, but the ambient noise of the room was broken by the voice of the ships executive officer.

“Colonel, we are about to drop out of warp and begin our docking procedures with Versailles”

Kate rolled her neck around in a clockwise massaging motion, she exited her cabin into the surrounding deck, the door swishing closed behind her.

Kate reached for her combadges, tapping it,

“I’ll be right there, Major.”

It had been a long tour for the crew of the Job. A 9 month tour of the border skirmishing with pirates and combating galactic slave trafficking operations.

Tracking down shipping routes and dismantling the infrastructure of one of the quadrants largest cartels wasn’t the most rewarding work for a Marine, but Marines didn’t get to pick and choose their assignments.

The 40 strong crew where looking forward to their 3 weeks R&R at Starbase Versailles, the use of the Holodecks was at the top of everyone’s list, to the point where the master at arms decided to raffle slots.

Kate arrived on the bridge to a snap of attention from the crew, she wearily waved at them to stand as ease before rounding the centre chair and taking her seat.

“Helm, drop us out of warp, fire up the the RCS system for docking. Operations, prepare for transfer to umbilical power.”

The ship dropped out of warp with a sleek flash of light as it reentered normal space. The impulse engines engaged propelling the ship towards its destination, Starbase Versailles. The station growing larger and larger in the view screen.
