Mission: The Sincerest Form of Flattery
Location: Sickbay

Tori walked into sickbay, pausing and looking around for a momentarily, a pained grimace on her face as she held her arm, both her shoulder and her wrist sitting rather awkwardly. With the station as busy as it was, sickbay it seemed was in a constant state of chaos as well, with both officers and refugees milling around everywhere. Sidestepping, trying to avoid being bumped by a the mother who was trying to restrain the hysterical toddler who was clearly feeling aggrieved by whatever had been done, Tori decided to try and get herself out of there as quickly as possible.

Approaching the first medical officer she saw who didn't appear to be actively treating someone, Tori offered a pained smile. "Hi, who do I need to see to register?"

Sarah spun around and looked at the unknown voice before she reacted, "Oh sorry, I didn't notice you were there I hope you weren't waiting long... Let's start with your name and how I can help you?", she offered before placing down the files of her previous case. Sarah smiled ever so slightly and outstretched her arm as to offer the lady to a chair in a corner consultation area.

"Lieutenant Commander Torhild Jessen," She replied with another wince as the well meaning doctor touched her arm. "I decided to take on a new career as a holodeck stunt double, failed miserably on my first day," she joked. As she let go of her arm, inhaling slowly, it was easy to see she had indeed failed. Her shoulder looked obviously dislocated and judging by the slightly off angle of her wrist and the protrusion above where a bone should be, it was entirely probable she had managed to break her wrist as well. "I fell," was all she offered as an explanation.

The doctor looked at th obviously dislocated arm and thought to herself for a moment... “Hmm, I see... That does look painful” she replied, she readied a hypospray of analgesic... This might hurt” she said as she administered the hypospray and felt around the dislocated shoulder to try and figure how badly it was dislocated and if there was any nerve damage.

After the doctor had assessed Tori fully with the medical tricorder, she began with correcting the dislocated shoulder. A cracking sound is heard and relief is given to Tori as the Doctor said “That’s done, I think I’ll want you in for review in a few days in case it gives you any further issues. I also don’t want you working or undertaking any heavy or hard labour for the next 48 to 72 hours.”

Tori bit down on her bottom lip, almost to the point of tears as her shoulder was corrected. The crunching sound as her shoulder was put back in place made her wince visible, but the relief it brought was obvious, the lines in her forehead smoothing visibly. Now all that remained was the rapidly escalating pain in her wrist.

"There isn't enough time to do what needs to be done regardless," Tori said quietly. "I need to be able to work Lieutenant. Just as much as you do."

"I'm afraid if you try to do anything excessive with your injuries, you'll end up here worse, and I won't be asking you to take it easy I will be forcing you." she said sternly. "So either you get someone to follow you around to do the hard labour, or you don't return and I report to your command that you're not fit for duty." She said whist assessing her wrist.

"Yes Mother," Tori replied with a smirk, resisting the urge to be completely childish and stick out her tongue while she was going. Besides, once she was out of sickbay there wouldn't be anyone keeping tabs on her. "So how bad did I manage to mess up my wrist? I knew climbing on those storage barrels was a bad idea." She shook her head.

"Oh my...", Sarah sighed... "You lot don't know how to take it easy and just be responsible... do you?" she said with a harsh tone. "It doesn't look too bad, just seems more like a hairline fracture, so I'll give you some pain relief by injection, and then I'll get that hand sorted for you in a jiffy," she said, whilst administering a hypospray. Sarah walked over to a mobile table she had brought to the chair her patient was sat on, she grabbed the Osteotractor and began to use it to repair the fracture. "There we go, should be all set now... Quite literally" she joked at her own medical joke. "I meant what I said, I'll be checking up with you daily for the next 3 days." she gave a firm look.

Tori shrugged slightly, much easier to do with her shoulder being correctly aligned again. "Easier said than done," she said with a smile. "Science tends to rank pretty lowly when it comes to getting support from other departments so we often resort to being self-sufficient. Operations told me it would be four hours before they could spare someone to help, what was I supposed to do? Sit around and twiddle my thumbs while I waited for them?" She caught the look of warning coming from the doctor. "But I'll behave for a few days."

The doctor smirked, "Yeah I understand and that's fair enough however for the next few days please take it easy, I don't want to be seeing you in here again in a few days because then it'll be a lot harder to fix up..." Sarah replied.

"I know, I know," Tori replied with a laugh. "And you'll be watching me..." She shook her head slightly. "I'll be as well behaved as I possibly can be, okay? So, am I good to go? Sorry, I didn't expect to be spending the end of my shift in sickbay so I didn't let the sitter know that I'd be late."

"Yes, you can go... Just be careful" she chuckled.

Without waiting for a response, Tori slid off the bio bed and offered a quick "Thanks Lieutenant," before beelining for the door.
